NHL Games to Watch; January 11th
Lightning @ Flyers 1 PM ET
TV: SUN/CSN-PHI/NHL NETWORK-US
For whatever reason these times are always in good games against one another. Not only are the games good, but they are also for some odd reason pretty physical. I expect similar today, because hey it’s the Flyers, do I need to say more?
Blackhawks @ Canadiens 7 PM ET
TV: WGN/CBC/RDS/NHL NETWORK-US
These two are part of the original six teams that came into the NHL in the early 1900’s and they both have stories franchises with multiple Stanley Cup winning teams. The real shame in the NHL is that these teams hardly ever play any meaningful games because of the fact that it is rare that they play in the playoffs, the last time they’re played in the playoffs was back in 1975-1976 which was 10 years before I was even born.
Why do I think this game will be good? Because both teams are talented and are blessed with good speed. I think this could be a high scoring spirited affair, I’ll say Chicago wins 7-4.
Red Wings @ Kings 10:30 PM ET
This is another great match up on the slate today, it is nice to see the Red Wings making a trip out West because they have pretty good rivalries with most of the teams. Plus they play at a fairly elite level most games which has been the MO in the Western Conference this season.
This game also features a lot of skill and should make for a very entertaining game in LA tonight. I’ll predict a 3-1 LA win though. Just a gut feeling.
Bruins @ Sharks 10:30 PM ET
Despite the recent struggles for the Bruins I think this game is going to be a great match up. The Bruins get to face their former captain Joe Thornton again after trading him to the Sharks several years ago in what can be considered one of the worst traded in Bruins history and cost then Bruins GM Mike O’Connell his job.
Regardless of that the Bruins and Sharks are both talented clubs and this game should be a great battle. If the Bruins can avoid a 3-0 hole this game they might have a win to get.
My prediction is that the Bruins will win 4-3 in OT.
