Niklas Svedberg was called up to the Boston Bruins. Svedberg was the AHL goalie of the year last season for the Providence Bruins and this season has posted a 11-5-3 record with a 2.91 GAA and a .907 saves %. Photo: Kevin Gesterling/ELECTROSPORTS

Senators @ Bruins 7 PM ET

This is a start of a big home and home series between these teams to be played on back to back days. There is a lot riding on these games for the Senators who are trying to find some stability in their play. The Bruins also called up goalie Niklas Svedberg from Providence and it is likely that he will play one of the games.

Avalanche @ Blackhawks 8 PM ET

This should be a great match up between two of the best teams in the first half of the NHL season. The Avalanche are a huge surprise team this year, and I think Chicago was expected to be a contender since they did after just win the Stanley Cup.

Oilers @ Flames 9 PM ET

Nothing like coming out of the Christmas break with a match up that has been historically nasty since the 1980’s. The Oilers and Flames are both trying to be the supreme team in the Province of Alberta and unfortunately neither will win a Stanley Cup this season if they continue to play the way they have. But nonetheless this should be a good battle.
