Coyotes staying in Phoenix
The city of Glendale, Arizona has agreed to a 15 year, $225M lease agreement with perspective buyers Renaissance Sports & Entertainment, the deal must be signed and completed by Monday July 8th and the deal to buy the Coyotes must be completed by August 5th. It is worth noting that RSE has an out-clause after five years which they can exercise if losses reach $50 million over that term. But with solid ownership that isn’t expected to be an issue.
Flames acquire; extend Galiardi
The Calgary Flames traded a 2015 5th round pick to acquire the contract rights to T.J. Galiardi. And they then announced that they had signed the veteran winger to a 1 year, $1.25M deal for the 2013-2014 season.
Maple Leafs buy out Komisarek
Mike Komisarek has a compliance buy-out used on him by the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs will save $4,5M with the move which gives them a little wiggle room for Free Agency which starts on Friday.
