AHL Conference Finals Schedule/Predictions

Eastern Conference Finals – Series “M” (best-of-7)
3-Syracuse Crunch vs. 5-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

Game 1 – Sat., May 25 – W-B/Scranton at Syracuse, 7:00
Game 2 – Sun., May 26 – W-B/Scranton at Syracuse, 7:00
Game 3 – Wed., May 29 – Syracuse at W-B/Scranton, 7:05
Game 4 – Fri., May 31 – Syracuse at W-B/Scranton, 7:05
*Game 5 – Sat., June 1 – W-B/Scranton at Syracuse, 7:00
*Game 6 – Mon., June 3 – Syracuse at W-B/Scranton, 7:05
*Game 7 – Wed., June 5 – W-B/Scranton at Syracuse, 7:00
*if necessary… All times Eastern

The Syracuse Crunch made the Springfield Falcons look like a bad hockey team in the Semi-Finals in a four game sweep but anyone who knows the AHL knows that Springfield is typically one of the better teams on a year by year basis. However what Syracuse did was nothing in comparison to the 0-3 hole Wilkes-Barre dug themselves out of against the AHL regular season champion the Providence Bruins. All in all this should be an excellent series, but I am going with the Crunch in six games.

Western Conference Finals – Series “N” (best-of-7)
3-Grand Rapids Griffins vs. 5-Oklahoma City Barons

Game 1 – Fri., May 24 – Oklahoma City at Grand Rapids, 7:00
Game 2 – Sat., May 25 – Oklahoma City at Grand Rapids, 7:00
Game 3 – Wed., May 29 – Grand Rapids at Oklahoma City, 8:00
Game 4 – Fri., May 31 – Grand Rapids at Oklahoma City, 8:00
*Game 5 – Sat., June 1 – Grand Rapids at Oklahoma City, 8:00
*Game 6 – Tue., June 4 – Oklahoma City at Grand Rapids, 7:00
*Game 7 – Wed., June 5 – Oklahoma City at Grand Rapids, 7:00

The Grand Rapids Griffins beat the Toronto Marlies in six games, the Griffins were too good for a young Marlies team and it clearly showed. The Barons surprised me and the Texas Stars by owning them in their series winning it in five games. Both teams coming off impressive series should make it a great series for the Western Conference Finals. But I think the Grand Rapids Griffins will make it to the Calder Cup Finals. My prediction is Grand Rapids in seven games.
